The Certified Bourbon Steward certification level provides self-guided training for bourbon enthusiasts of all levels, as well as servers, bartenders, concierge and retail workers looking to expand on their level of bourbon knowledge. Learning outcomes are designed to enable the participant to discuss bourbon confidently and accurately in a conversational manner, as well as assess preferences and make recommendations based on taste.
To earn your Certified Bourbon Steward status, you must pass an online exam as well as a virtual flight building activity, facilitated online with an included access code. Upon receiving a passing score, your membership pin will be mailed to you via USPS, to the address submitted with your test.
Founded in 2014, the Stave & Thief Society was developed at Moonshine University by professional educators and experts from the distilling, bourbon, and hospitality industries to provide a premium education for bourbon enthusiasts everywhere. It was developed with the singular purpose of providing a premium, standardized bourbon education. Not only is this the first Bourbon Certification program to be recognized by the bourbon industry, it’s the only “Official Bourbon Education Course” endorsed by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association and the KY Bourbon Trail™.
